Bob Cherry started work at Cropredy Bridge Garage in the early '70s serving on the petrol pumps after school and at weekends. On leaving school he was offered a five-year mechanical apprenticeship at the garage. Towards the end of the '70s he started his own business, Elm Grove Garage and by the mid-'90s had built up a very busy workshop including a few large fleet contracts and had outgrown the premises he was occupying at that time which coincided with Cropredy Bridge Garage being on the market. Elm Grove was then amalgamated with Cropredy Bridge and there followed a very busy nine- year period of caring for existing customers' cars alongside the Jensens synonymous with Cropredy Bridge. After the decision was made five years ago to sell that business, Bob remained on the team as a consultant to the new company VEight who are now undertaking the development of a new Interceptor S, meaning space had become a problem which resulted in Bob buying back the street car business, now being run from The Studio at Riverside Works. Mike Bailey, a local man, left school in the mid-'70s and began his working life at Fenny Compton Garage which involved experience with all makes of cars and small commercials but mainly Austin Rover and more recently Subaru and Isuzu, gaining a wide range of skills including becoming an MoT tester. When the owners of Fenny Compton Garage retired the garage was closed and Mike came to work at Cropredy. Mike now works along with Bob at Riverside Garage offering you some 60 years of combined experience and expertise. This enables us to give fast and accurate diagnosis of problems and the ability to repair them efficiently. |
